There are three approaches to treating tooth erosion: prevention, dental care and comprehensive management.
As a preventive measure, choose a soft toothbrush and avoid scrubbing too hard to limit wear on tooth enamel. Limiting acidic foods and beverages is also a good preventive measure.
In terms of treatment, the solution is to combat the causes of erosion and conceal its visible effects. For example, anti-bruxism splints can be worn to prevent further wear. Your dentist may then recommend veneers or other devices to hide the damaged area of the tooth (inlays, overlays, onlays, table tops). Made in composite or ceramic, these dental reconstructions give you back your smile and limit the consequences of tooth wear (sensitivity, cavities…).
In addition to oral care, other procedures may be prescribed, such as consulting an osteopath for bruxism or an eating disorders specialist for anorexia.
