To place a dental implant, you need to have sufficient bone in the tooth concerned, and no periodontal disease. In some cases, however, it may be possible to use a dental bone graft to add height or thickness.

Implants are considered “hors nomenclature” by Social Security and are therefore not reimbursed. Our care coordinator can offer you a personalized payment schedule if required.

An implant is a titanium screw inserted into the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth.
This procedure is carried out by an implantologist dentist in a specialized practice.
The main advantages of this method? Unlike bridgework, this method allows you to replace a tooth without touching the adjacent teeth: once the implant is in place, you can place a ceramic crown on top, for a natural-looking result. This also avoids the need for a more restrictive removable appliance.
It will take a few months for the crown to be fitted, while the bone heals around the implant. This is known as osseointegration: the osseous cells will deposit on the implant surface, as titanium is a perfectly biocompatible material. Once healing is complete, we’ll schedule the fitting of a fixed prosthesis.

The procedure will take place under local anaesthetic in the operating theatre of our dental practice. It will be performed by your implant dentist.
To achieve this, the gingiva is gently peeled back to prepare the implant bed. We then place the implant and apply a few stitches to promote healing. We’ll remove them once we’ve checked that osseointegration is underway.
It will then take 4 to 6 months for the prosthesis to be fitted, by which time the healing process has been completed and the implant fully integrated into the bone.
Implant placement is completely painless. Your Lyon dental implant dentist will prescribe medication before the procedure to prevent swelling, as is sometimes the case with hospital surgery.
